Friday Finds

1 & 2. You can never have too much floral or too many plastic vintage plates. Throw them together and watch me have an excitement panic attack.
3. I've always known that I have a love for anything ivory and/or gold, but lately it's been catching my eye everywhere and I'm even more obsessed with it than ever before. It's even inspired a recent decor change in our home!
4. Ah this beauty. I was on the hunt for a typewriter so I could finish one last step on our wedding invitations before sending them out. I really didn't care what the condition or color, I just needed to squeeze a little use out of it one time. I really got the cherry on top when I stumbled upon this powder blue beauty at the first place I looked! Now I have a pretty display when I'm all done with it!

Vintage Haul

I had absolutely no intention of doing any kind of thrifting today, but this morning while out, a small sign that read "Vintage Yard Sale" caught my eye and I whipped the car around in a second. You know that saying about love and other really good junk that goes something like, "When you stop looking, it'll come to you." Well you can bet this is the perfect instance to use that infamous phrase, because this is what I picked up this morning, ALL AT ONE SPOT! (That's rare!)

Crosley record/radio/cd/tape Player
Floral & Gold woven basket Stool (Top opens)
Two lovely metal Dinner Trays
Two adorable "set of 4" laminated Lee prints (8 total, weee!)
Two spring/summer Floral Tanks
Three PERFECT long necklaces
The sweetest Salmon Dress I ever did see
Gorgeous Lace detail
Vintage seating in Candy Red
Four very thick crochet Pot Holders
Mushroom Wall Hanging
Over a yard long of Embroidered vintage wall art

Dream Job: Day One!

Normally I'd instagram my pictures before posting, just because I like the squareness of them on the blog, but these (mostly accidental) pictures I took today came out too perfect to mess with.

After prepping from 3-7am for our pop up shop with just one hour sleep under our belts, (thanks mick jagger for being too hilarious on saturday night live for me to block out so I could snooze) we began our very first selling day. The weeks leading up to this day I was secretly so so nervous people weren't going to like the things we one by one hand picked to sell, and that we'd wasted so much time and money on it all. But with each customer that bought something, we had a pleasant conversation about the uniqueness of the pieces, and the memories that certain items brought back for them. Gian turned to me a couple times and said, "It's really cool when I over hear some of the older people saying things like 'Oh that's so classic!' and 'that's the pattern my grandma had!' It's reassuring that we have legitimate things." I couldn't agree more. I had a music box for sale wound up throughout the entire day, and people would come up and say "There it is! We've been looking for that sound!" and "I had one just like this in my room as a little boy, it's bringing back a lot of memories." It feels so cool to see how excited people get over seeing something that makes them feel warm and fuzzy, and that I could do that for them, just by doing what I love. I didn't even feel like I was at work today. Being surrounded by all these homey vintage items I adore, meeting wonderful souls for people, strange street fashion watching, I could do it every day. My sunburned skin couldn't though.

(Top left photo) Gian exchanging money with our second, and one of my favorite customers.) Such a beautiful mom and daughter and they were so genuinely sweet! She was so excited to get her new bracelet, she opted out on a bag and put it on her wrist straight away. I love that!

P.S. I am SO lucky to have a guy that will support and participate in everything I want to do. He seriously slept an hour, stayed by my side from 3am to 3pm for the pop up shop, and dragged himself to WORK as a chef at 4pm! With a sunburn! Dehydrated, hot, and exhausted!

On cloud nine,

A little bit of shopping drama

Today I went thrifting and found this adorable little baby sweater. A couple girls were pushing around a baby girl in a stroller and they kept eyeing me and the goods I was carrying around. I spotted an amazing 70's chair/ottoman combo, and went to tell the man at the register that I wanted it. He took the sweater from me, sat it on the register's counter, and told me to follow him and show him which chair. When we got back to the register, you guessed it, the sweater was GONE. He asked a couple employees if they grabbed it, no luck. I told him I think those two girls got it because they wouldn't take their eyes off me with it. I looked them in the eyes and started to walk right up to them. They saw me coming and quick grabbed the sweater, held it out and said, "Are you looking for this? Here you go. We thought you didn't want it anymore, sorry." Mhm...thank you! As I was walking home to get the truck to load the chair, I couldn't help but feel a little guilty when I got to thinking, "Hey, they already had a little baby to buy this for...here I go again shopping for a non existent seed." Oh well, in a couple years when you get here baby girl, I promise you'll have a wardrobe to be proud of. (Watch me have a boy now.)

P.S.- Bentley made this chair his spot the second we placed it on the floor.
